Oneida- Alfred J. "Buddy" DiLapi, age 82, of Skenondoa Way passed away early Wednesday morning, October 17, 2024, in Wynn Hospital. He was born on September 30, 1942, in Oneida, New Yok a son of the late Alfred and Florence "Flosi" (Babcock) DiLapi and was a graduate of the Vernon Verona Sherrill Schools. On November 10, 1959, Alfred enlisted with the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on September 27, 1963 He was a past commander of the William Russell American Legion Post 404 of Vernon. In his younger years he enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, fishing and sitting around a bonfire with his family and friends. He owned tinkering around with his hot rods and old muscle cars and in his later years collected miniature hot rods and muscle cars. On April 18, 2008, Buddy and Deborah J. Cox were united in marriage in Oneida, New York and have shared that loving bond for the past sixteen years. Surviving is his wife Deborah J. DiLapi of Oneida, four children, Debra (DiLapi) Wisinski of Phoenix, NY, Jodi (DiLapi) and Thomas Jones of Canastota, Michael and Traci DiLapi of Vernon and Kirtland DiLapi and companion Jeannie Coolican of Verona, two stepdaughters, Lori Gomez and Carrie Sue Williams both of Alaska, nine grandchildren, Joyce DiLapi, Michael Wisinski, Joseph Wisinski, Louis Wisinski, Michael DiLapi, Matthew DiLapi, Eva Gomez, Emma Gomez and Easton Gomez. Buddy was predeceased by his parents and sister Rosalie "Sue" Fallon. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon, NY. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will then follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Rt. 5, Vernon, NY. Following the funeral services, friends are welcome to join the family, to celebrate Buddy's life, at the Vernon American Legion, Route 5 in Vernon NY.
