Verona-Stuart A. Smith, 70, of Greenway Lowell Rd. passed away early Sunday afternoon, January 26, 2025 in Oneida Healthcare with his family at his side.
He was born on February 7, 1954 in Rome, New York a son of the late G. Allison “Al” and Katherine (Vonertfelda) Smith and was a graduate of Vernon Verona Sherrill High School.
Stu was an avid car enthusiast who was talented with not only the mechanical aspect of auto repair but was involved with body restoration and upholstery for modern, antique and model automobiles for various auto repair shops in the area with his last employment prior to his illness with Tubbs Service in Oneida.
In his spare times he enjoyed snowmobiling and collecting snowmobiles. But no matter what Stuart was doing the home cooked meals were always so much appreciated as he really didn’t cook.
Surviving are his two sisters; Hermine Kinne, Victoria Pinsky, one brother, Chet Smith, one niece, five nephews, several great-nieces and great-nephews and so many friends too numerous to mention that Stu enjoyed spending time with.
He was predeceased by his parents, G. Allison and Katherine Smith, sister Shirley Bole and fiancé’, Sheri Fargo.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and Dr. James Vanderhoof for everything they did to make Stuart’s last days as comfortable as possible.
In keeping with Stuart’s wishes there will be a private spring burial in New Union Cemetery, Verona, New York for the family and close friends with a celebration of his life to follow. Arrangements are with the Malecki Funeral Home of Vernon. Online condolences may be sent to maleckifuneralhome.com
