Vernon Center-Arthur F. "Sonny" Eckhard Jr. age 83 formerly of Norton Road. Vernon Center passed away early Monday morning February 17, 2025 in Wynn Hospital. He was born on June 4, 1941 in Oneida, New York a son of the late Arthur F. and Mernie (Farnham) Eckhard Sr. and attended the Vernon Verona Sherill Schools. On October 8,1977 Arthur and Mary L. Stevens were united in marriage at Bennett's Corners United Methodist Church of Munnsville, and have shared this loving union of forty-seven years together. Prior to his retirement Sonny was employed with Johnson Brothers Lumber of Cazenovia. In his spare times he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and anything outdoors. Surviving is his wife, Mary L. Eckhard of Sherrill, his children, Tracy Postal, Steven Eckhard, Shannon Doane, Heidi Hoage, Monica Eckhard and Jessica Merrithew, fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Sonny was predeceased by his parents and his siblings. In keeping with Arthur's wishes there will be no public funeral services. The family will gather privately to honor Sonny.
