Obituary of Richard Hiram Bice

Verona-Richard Hiram Bice, formerly of Park Street, Sherrill  and more recently of Happy Valley Road passed away peacefully Sunday evening April 27, 2025 in the Oneida Health Hospital with his family at his side at the age of 92 after a brief illness.
  He was born on December 13, 1932 in Canton, New York a son of the late Hiram and Alice (Todd) Bice and earned a degree in finance at SUNY Canton.
   Richard served his country during the Korean War with the United States Navy.
  On July 30, 1955 Richard and Marlene Bonville were united in marriage in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ogdensburg, New York and have shared this sacred vow of nearly seventy years together. 
  Prior to his retirement in 1995 Richard was the manager and loan officer with Albany Savings Bank in Oneida.
  His hobbies included model trains, woodworking and carpentry. His carpentry skills gave Richard the ability to build his own camp which he and his family enjoyed. He was a member of St. Helena’s Church of Sherrill.
  Surviving is his wife, Marlene Bice of Verona, two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Jim Rizzo of Verona and Darlene and Jim Boncella of Durhamville, his grandchildren; Nathan (Leah) Rizzo, Natalie (Ryan) Marshall, Nicholas (Brittany) Rizzo and Lawrence (Jennifer) Boncella, nine great-grandchildren; Nicolas, Vincent, Olivia, Harper, Adalyn, Caitlin, Jackson, Maeve and Weston, and several nieces and nephews. 
  Richard was predeceased by his siblings and great-granddaughter Maggie Rizzo.
  Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Spirit of Hope St. Helena’s Church, 204 Primo Ave., Sherrill, New York. Burial will be Monday May 5, 2025 in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ogdensburg, New York. Arrangements are with the Malecki Funeral Home of Sherrill.
