Obituary of Sandra Simmons

Vernon-Sandra Simmons of Lampman Road passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, June 7, 2025 in Wynn Hospital with her loving family at her bedside. She was born on January 29, 1970 in Oneida, New York a daughter of the late Robert J. and Barbara (Newell) Legler. Sandra was a Vernon-Verona-Sherrill graduate and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Utica College. On August 25, 2006 Sandra and Robert M. Simmons were united in marriage in Vernon Center, New York and have shared this vow of nearly nineteen years together. Prior to her retirement in 2023 due to health setbacks Sandra was employed with the Oneida Healthcare as a registered nurse. In her spare times Sandra enjoyed puzzles, reading, cooking, traveling and times with her family. Surviving is her husband, Robert M. Simmons of Vernon, three sons, Levi Legler of Manlius, Dakota Minckler of Vernon, Logan Minckler of Cary, NC, her grandson James Legler of Manlius, her siblings and their spouses, Eric and Natalie Legler of Vernon, N.Y., Aaron Legler of Warwick, RI.; three sisters and their spouses, Susan and Jim Romeo, Brenda and Thomas Vanderhoof, and Dianne and D.J. Putaski all of Vernon, N.Y.; sister-in-law Vicki Krisak Legler of Liverpool and many nieces and nephews. Sandra was predeceased by her parents and brother Mark Legler. In keeping with Sandra's wishes there will be no public services. In lieu of flowers the family request donations in memory of Sandra be sent to SPAN Parent Advocacy Network.
