Obituary of Carl L. Griffith

Carl L. Griffith of Munnsville passed in Crouse Irving Hospital with his loving wife Freida at his bedside on June 18, 2025 at the age of 85.

He was born on August 18, 1939 in Oneida, New York a son of the late Erwin C. and Margaret (Barnes) Griffith and was a graduate of Stockbridge Valley Central School.

Carl spent twenty-two proud years with the United States Navy as an electrician and was honorably discharged on July 7, 1978.

On April 18, 1964 Carl and Freida L. Kiehn were united in marriage in St. Therese of the Infant Jesus Church in Munnsville, New York and have shared that sacred vow of over sixty-one years together.

Prior to his retirement Carl was employed as an industrial electrician with Legrand/Pass & Seymour in Solvay, NY.

He was a scout master and was very active with the Boys Scouts for over forty-six years and was a member of the Munnsville Vol. Fire Department for over twenty-six years and served on the advisory board for the State Sons of the American Legion. Carl served two years as the Commander of the American Legion Post 54 of Munnsville, one year as a past commander of Post 54 and one year as commander of the Madison County American Legion and one year as 5th and 6th Vice Commander. Carl was a past president of the Madison Co. Fire Police Assn.

Surviving is his wife Freida L. Griffith, son, Erwin (Lori Ann) Griffith of Endicott, NY, daughter, Kim (Rich) Frost of Munnsville, seven grandchildren, Jenna (Aaron), Harry (Tiffany), Billy (Daphne), Seraiah, Kierston, Kyle and Tiffany, thirteen great-grandchildren; Alec, Emily, William Jr., Lily, Annabelle, Elliot, Jackson, Ebba, Justin, Timmy, Ernie Noah and Isabella. Many brothers-in-laws, sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Carl was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Billy and Allen Griffith.

Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday June 22, 2025 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc. 23 Front Street, Vernon, NY. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home immediately following at 4:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will be Monday June 23, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. in Valley View Cemetery, 1776 Middle Road, Oneida, NY. A celebration of Carl's life will follow the burial at the American Legion Post 54, of Munnsville, 6311 E. Hill Rd. Munnsville, NY, 13409.
