Obituary of Marlene B. Bice

Verona-Marlene B. Bice passed away early Thursday morning August 28, 2025 in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love and devotion of her family at the age of 90.
She was born a daughter of the late Lawrence and Alice (Larue) Bonville and was a graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy. Marlene went on to become a Register Nurse a career that she was very proud of.
On July 30, 1955 Marlene and Richard Hiram Bice were united in marriage in St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg, New York and shared that vow of nearly seventy years until Mr. Bice’s death on April 27, 2025.
Prior to her retirement in 1993 Marlene was employed as a company nurse with Oneida Limited Silversmiths.
In her spare times Marlene enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting, crafting and tending to her flower gardens. Summer times were spent with her family at the family camp that her husband built. She was a member of St. Helena’s Church of Sherrill.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Jim Rizzo of Verona and Darlene and Jim Boncella of Durhamville, her grandchildren; Nathan (Leah) Rizzo, Natalie (Ryan) Marshall, Nicholas (Brittany) Rizzo and Lawrence (Jennifer) Boncella, nine great-grandchildren; Nicholas, Vincent, Olivia, Harper, Adalyn, Caitlin, Jackson, Maeve and Weston; one brother Lawrence (Marla) Bonville of Kentucky and several nieces and nephews.
Marlene was predeceased by her husband, siblings and great-granddaughter Maggie Rizzo.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Spirit of Hope St. Helena’s Church, 204 Primo Ave., Sherrill, New York. Burial will be Wednesday, September 3, 2025 in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ogdensburg, New York. Arrangements are with the Malecki Funeral Home of Sherrill.
