Obituary of Barbara R. Thurston

Barbara R. Thurston, 82 of Oneida, NY passed away on August 28, 2025 unexpectedly from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.  
  Barbara was joined in marriage with John Thurston on August 17, 1963.  
  She was a devoted stay at home mom for many years before being  employed at Shirl-Lynns, Oneida City Hospital, and Vernon Downs.  Barbara was a dedicated supporter of dance with her daughters. She was an avid reader, pet lover, Elvis fan, bird watcher and enjoyed traveling/visiting the Adirondacks.  And most importantly spending time with her family.  
  She is predeceased by her husband, John Thurston, her brother Steven Ready and a grandson, Kyle Thurston.  She is survived by her five children Paula Eastman, John Thurston (Mikki), Michael Thurston (Tanya), Melissa Kobler (Wayne), Jennifer Brown (Doug).  
 She is survived by her siblings James Ready, Linda Geer-Daktor (Fred), sister-in-law Michelle Ready.  Several beloved grandchildren, Chea, Elizabeth, Emily, Travis, Shawn, Cody, Kaylee, and Amber.  Her cherished great grandchildren Everett, Ethan, Olivia, Kian, Cate, Jack, Madison, Summer, Blair, and Dylan.  
  Calling hours will be at Malecki Funeral Home, 23 Front Street, Vernon NY for family and friends on Friday, September 5, 2025 from 4-6 pm.  A service will be held at the Stockbridge Cemetery on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 11 am.  All are welcome to gather with family and friends following the cemetery service at the Vernon American Legion Post 404.
