Obituary of Richard H. Muessig

Vernon-Richard H. Muessig formerly of E. Seneca Street passed away Tuesday evening September 23, 2025 in The Grand Nursing Home of Chittenango at the age of 78.

Richard was born on February 4, 1947 in Newark, New Jersey a son of Edward and Rosemary (Vogler) Muessig, who preceded him in death and was a graduate of Washington High School, Washington, NJ in 1966. Due to his size and enjoyment of participating in high school wrestling, he was nicknamed "Moose".

Richard and Eileen Bailey were united in marriage and shared that union until Eileen's death.

Prior to his retirement Richard was an asbestos abatement worker with Local 32 of Newark, NJ.

He was known, by many, for his great sense of humor and his devotion to God, as a practicing Catholic. In his spare time Richard enjoyed watching television and spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving is one son, David B. Muessig and companion Marla A. Myers of Vernon, three grandchildren, Damien, Ethan and Alyssa Muessig, four brothers, Ronald, Gerald, Douglas and Kenneth Muessig, four sisters, Sharon Fornaro, Rosemary Ottman, Monica Hess and Kathleen Kays and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was predeceased by his wife, Eileen, brother, Barry Muessig and grandson Michael Muessig.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date in New Jersey for friends and family. Arrangements are with the Malecki Funeral Home of Vernon. Online condolences may be sent to maleckifuneralhome.com
