Obituary of James P. Kines

Sherrill-James Peter Kines passed away unexpectedly early Tuesday morning September 30, 2025 at his home at the age of 75.
  He was born on February 3, 1950 in Manhattan, New York a son of the late Nicholas and Johanna (Buggy) Kines and the family moved to Oneida in 1957. Jim was a graduate of Oneida High School and attended Boston College and Morrisville College.
  He married the love of his life Pamela J. Miller on May 7, 1977 in St. Helena’s Church of Sherrill and the couple has shared this loving vow of over forty-eight years together.
   Jim was employed with the Oneida Limited Silversmith as a machine operator for thirty-two years and went on to work at Hamilton College retiring in 2020.
  He was a member of St. Helena’s Church, the E Bart Hanifin # 473 Knights of Columbus 4th Degree and a member of the Sons of American Legion Post of Sherrill. 
  Surviving is his wife Pamela J. Kines, two daughters, Courtney Kines, of Sherrill, Jessica and Jeremy VanDam of Charlotte, NC, grandson Caleb McConnell, sisters-in-law, Linda and Art Winterton and Lori Leonard and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
  Jim was predeceased by a granddaughter Megan Gleasman and step brother Rev. Thomas Wells. 
  Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home, 464 Sherrill Rd., Sherrill, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday October 6, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Helena’s Church, 204 Primo Ave., Sherrill, NY with Pastor Rev. Christopher Ballard celebrant.
