Obituary of Brian R. Lake

Vernon-Brian R. Lake formerly of Vernon passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 1, 2025 in the Rome Health Center following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Oneida, New York on June 8, 1957 a son of the late William M. Lake Sr. and Roberta Campbell and received his education with the Vernon Verona Sherrill Schools.
Brian was a well know caretaker of standardbred horses on the back stretch at Vernon Downs before his health declined. Brian enjoyed spending time fishing and spending time with his friends.
Surviving are his two brothers, Edward Lake of CA and William M. Lake Jr. of Sherrill, and several very close friends including Mary Chick. Brian was predeceased by a son William Patrick Chick.
In keeping with Brian's wishes there will be no services. Arrangements are with the Malecki Funeral Home of Vernon. Online condolences may be sent to maleckifuneralhome.com
