Vernon Center-Herbert J. Williams formerly of Vernon Center and more recently of the Presbyterian Home passed away peacefully Saturday, December 6, 2025 in the Siegenthaler Center at the age of 77. "Move over Johnny Cash, heaven has gained a new singer for the choir". He was born on February 21, 1948 in Utica, New York a son of the late Herbert and Jean (Mayo) Williams and was a graduate of Ventura High School, Ventura California. Herb served with the United States Army from 1968 to 1969. He was a fantastic singer and could sing many genres with a fancy for singing Johnny Cash songs. He enjoyed walks and could be seen walking and singing. Herb's family members include his five sisters, Donna Walters, Patricia Williams, Nancy Williams, Barbara Flichum and Eleanor Patical, three aunts, Eleanor Wolak, Claudia Hulser and Marion "Duffy" Geary of Vernon Center with whom Herb more recently resided with, as well as many niece, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews. In keeping with Herb's wished there will be no funeral services. Private spring burial will be in Skinner Cemetery, Lyons Road, Vernon Center, NY.
