Obituary of Robert B. Reaves

Vernon-Robert B. Reaves, age 68, a longtime resident of the area, passed away August 29, 2019 in the Villa Marie Claire Hospice Center in Saddle River, New Jersey with his loving family at his side. Bob was born on March 10, 1951 in Oneida, New York, a son of the late Jess F. and Marian (Buell) Reaves. He graduated from VVS High School and attended SUNY Brockport. Bob cherished the time he spent with his family and found no greater joy than the experiences they all shared together. From trying new foods to discovering new places, he was always the perfect co-pilot. He was passionate about nature, the world around him, and was an avid promoter of being kind to one another. A lover of music, he would never turn down the opportunity to see a live show and was constantly on the hunt for the perfect guitar. Bob recently retired following several years of being employed as office manager for the Syracuse division of BerkOne (formerly Amtek Corp.), a provider of digital imaging solutions and was formerly employed by American General Life Insurance. Surviving are his children and their spouses, Constance (Michael) Cataldi of Stony Point, Rebecca (Marc) Chin of Ridgewood, NJ, Jess Reaves of Stony Point and five grandchildren (Cooper, Addison, Lucas, Nora and Grayson). Bob was predeceased by his parents, brother James (Frank) Reaves of East Syracuse, NY, sister Shelia Wann Reaves of Kansas City, MO and companion, Marge Myrto. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 6, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 116 W. Grove Street at the corner of Main Street, Oneida, NY with Rev. Abigail Browka, celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Helena's Cemetery in Oneida, New York. In memory of Bob, please consider donations to WorldWildlife.org, the American Cancer Society or NPR.org. Arrangements are with the Malecki Funeral Home of Vernon. Online condolences may be sent to Maleckifuneralhome.com.
