Obituary of Helen E. Fizette

Ava-Helen E. Fizette, age 84, of State Rt. 26, Ava and formerly of Sherrill passed away early Thursday evening June 10, 2021 in the Oneida Healthcare Center. She was born on December 21, 1936 in Canastota, NY a daughter of the late Frank and Lillian (Cunningham) Chappelle and was a graduate of the Canastota schools. Helen was employed with Smith Lee for many years and prior to her retirement in 1998, she was employed as a sales associate with the former Ames of Newark, NY. She enjoyed collecting bells and was a gifted crafter who enjoyed making dolls. Helen was very giving of her time to others and enjoyed helping people. She severed as a past president of the Noyes Manor Board. Surviving are her two children and their spouses, Tina (Alan) Lubowicz of Fort Kent ME and Caralee (Kevin) Young of Rome NY, three grandchildren, Jamie Finen, Andy Eastman, and Kyle Landschoot, one great-grandson Silas Finen, three great-granddaughters, Hailee Brown, Lilah Finen, and Camilla Landschoot,her companion Ronald Marsden of Ava, NY, three sisters Donna Beatty of Sherrill, NY, Margaret Niles of Oneida, NY, Patricia Kelly of Dover, PA, and several nieces, nephews, and many friends. Helen was predeceased by her husbands, Donald K. Brown and John Fizette, one son, Donald A. Brown, five siblings, Dick Chappelle, John Chappelle, Vernon "Bud" Hall, June Spara, and Catherine Abert; and a former companion Sherwood "Woody" Coffin. In keeping with Helen's wishes, there will be no public calling hours or funeral services. Private burial will be in West Verona Cemetery Verona, NY.
