Obituary of Judith M. Maciag

Vernon-Judy Maciag, 82, a longtime resident of Curtis Road, passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, November 17, 2023. She was born on September 17, 1941 in Oneida, New York, a daughter of the late Robert and Helen (Gribuski) Weimer. Judy was a graduate of the Westmoreland Schools and went on to receive her certificate in cosmetology. On August 5, 1961 Judy and Frederick J. Maciag were united in marriage at Church of the Annunciation of Clark Mills and shared that sacred vow for over fifty-nine years until Fred's death on November 30, 2020. In her younger years, Judy worked as a waitress at the Shady Grill in Vernon before becoming a reservation coordinator for Mohawk Airlines. She later went on to be the proud owner and operator of Judy's Beauty Salon for over fifty years. In her spare time, Judy enjoyed quilting, gardening and her family. She was a very devout Catholic who found solace in attending Mass and prayerful times. Surviving are her two daughters and their spouses, Christine and Steven Moolin of Sherrill, and Kathleen and Hayes Seymour of Canastota; her pride and joy: grandchildren, Sander (Thursday), Hannah (Will), Peter, and Zoe; brother Bruce (Carol) Weimer of VT; brother-in-law, Richard (Sandra) Maciag of Vernon; sister-in-law Beth Maciag of NC; and special nieces and nephews and their families. Judy was predeceased by her husband, Fred; siblings, Bobby, Alan, and Susan (Merle) Nell; and brother-in-law, Bernard Maciag. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, November 20, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the Malecki Funeral Home of Vernon. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:00 am at Spirit of Hope Holy Family Church, 4352 Peterboro Street, Vernon, NY. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Rt 5, Vernon, NY. The family would like to thank Crouse Community Center and Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton for the compassionate care Judy received in the past weeks.
