Obituary of Maurice W. Warner

Maurice Wayne Warner, 93 of Sherrill, NY graduated to the next phase of eternal life on December 7, 2024 at home with his family by his side. He was born March 15, 1931 in Durhamville, NY, the third son of Stanley and Elmina Warner. He attended Verona schools, graduating from Verona High School in 1948 as Valedictorian of his class. He married Dorothy Waters Nov. 19, 1950. They were involved with the family farm, moving to Churchville in 1958 where he operated the farm until 1987. He worked as an agent for Farmers Fire & Lightning Insurance Company from 1974 until 1985, when he became Regional Manager for North Country Insurance Company. He also served 9 years as Tax Assessor for the Town of Verona. He was a caller for Square Dance clubs for 34 years, calling for several clubs in Central New York. Dad was a man of few words usually but when he did speak, it was worth listening to. He loved music and singing hymns and songs of praise, even recording some songs for the family to always remember him by. Maurice was a long-time member of the Verona Seventh Day Baptist Church where he served as a member of the Board of Deacons since 1984. Besides his wife of over 74 years, he is survived by four children and their spouses, Diane (David) Falkenmeyer of Verona, Wayne (Connie) Warner of Verona, Douglas (Glenda) Warner of Jefferson City, TN, and Neil (Laurie) Warner of Liverpool, twelve grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren, one brother, Glen Warner of Duncan SC and many nieces and nephews. Maurice was predeceased by one great- granddaughter Cassie Warner and three brothers, Alva Warner, Garth Warner and Richard Warner. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent the Verona Seventh Day Baptist Church in Maurices' memory. Family and friends are invited to attend Mr. Warner's funeral service on Friday January 10, 2025. Calling hour from 10 to 11 followed by a service at 11:00 AM at the Verona Seventh Day Baptist Church, 6775 Blackmans Corners Road, Verona, NY.
