Obituary of Jacqueline V. Harp

Vernon- Jacqueline V. Harp (Jackie), age 90, of Youngs Road passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of December 20, 2024. She was at home, surrounded by loving family members. Jackie was born on October 25, 1934 in North Norwich, NY, a daughter of the late Ernest and Marjorie (Gibbs) Baker and was a graduate of Norwich High School and Morrisville College. She also received a certification from Syracuse Law School and was a Town Justice in North Norwich. Prior to her retirement Jackie was a real-estate agent in Ocala, Florida for Sun Homes. While residing in Vernon, Jackie attended the Vernon United Methodist Church. Jackie was married to George D. Harp who predeceased her on March 14, 2020. Together, their passion for harness racing produced several standout racehorses in Upstate NY and a tradition carried on through further generations. Jackie is survived by five children and their spouses, Ron and Diane Harp, Roxane and Arnold Baldwin, Robin and Joseph Murphy, Richard Harp and Christine, and Ronda Winn. Grandchildren and their families include Brooke and Charlie Allen (Dillon, Blair, Nova), Venitia and Ted Black (Kendra, Colt), Elizabeth and Derek Trew (Maiya, Khloe), Kate Baldwin (Samantha, Sabrina), Kristin and David Homsi (Haley, Holden, Hayden), Hadley Griffenhagen (George, Gavin), Cory and Tara VanAuken (Luke), Cody VanAuken and Katie, Jerry Winn and Anna, Christopher Winn and Anna. She is also survived by sister, Jill (Wayne) Bunn and sister-in-law Wilma Mattucci, along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sister, Joan (Jim) Salanger. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherrill Rd., Sherrill, NY where funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m. Spring burial will be at North Norwich Cemetery, Norwich, NY.
