Vernon-Joyce A. Peck, age 83, formerly of Day Road passed away peacefully early Saturday morning December 21, 2024 at the Oneida Health Extended Care Facility.
She was born on June 27, 1941, in Rome, New York the daughter of the late Felix and Mildred (Urtz) Mazur and was a graduate of the Westmoreland Schools.
On July 9, 1959 Joyce and John B. Peck were united in marriage at the Church of Annunciation of Clark Mills and shared that union of over forty years together until John's death on March 19, 2000.
Prior to her retirement in 2001 Joyce was employed with the Vernon Verona Sherrill School District at the E. A. McAllister Elementary School of Sherrill as a cafeteria manager and cook.
In her spare times Joyce loved traveling, knitting, working with leather and special times spent with her family; especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved and adored. Joyce was a member of Holy Family Church of Vernon.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Nancy Peck of Vernon, five daughters; Theresa and Cindy Peck-Stacey of Schuyler, Karen and John McMinn III of Edinboro, PA, Joanne and Samuel Rouse of Glenview, IL, Lori and Luke Seelen of Hartford City, IN, and Amanda and Timothy Wilson of Rome. Nine grandchildren, Angela (Robert) Frost, Stepfanie (Tonya) Peck, Rachel (Travis) Murphy, Cassandra (German) Natal, Paige McMinn, Antonio Rouse, Kaitlyn Seelen, Claire (Quin Blakley) Seelen, Seth Wilson. Nine great-grandchildren Conner, Emma, Cole, and Evan Frost, Joastin Seelen, Hunter Williams, Gabrielle Natal, Kayce and Madison Murphy and several nieces and nephews.
Joyce was predeceased by her parents and her brothers John and Thomas Mazur.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, 4352 Peterboro Street, Vernon, NY at a date and time in the spring to be announced. Arrangements are with the Malecki Funeral Home of Vernon. Online condolences may be sent to maleckiuneralhome.com
