Marion H. Stook (1912-2015) Verona-Marion H. Stook, age 103, of Rock Road passed away November 28th 2015 in the ECF of Oneida Healthcare after a brief illness. She was born May 18, 1912 on Wolfe Island, Ontario, Canada daughter of the late Henry Cornelius and Mary Elizabeth (McClaren) Hogan. The family moved to Brownville, N.Y. when Marion was twelve years old. She went on to graduate from Canton Ag and Tech and on to graduate from Syracuse University with a BA in Home Economics. She (then Miss Hogan) went on to teach home economics at Verona High School until 1947 when she united in marriage to Robert A. Stook on October 12, a union of over 65 years. Robert passes away on April 13, 2013. She loved her family and the farm. Among other hobbies were feeding the birds and Mom's favorite the humming bird. She and Bob delighted in watching them. Marion was a wonderful homemaker and a great cook! She loved to try new recipes on her family. Harvesting the garden was a busy time of year but filled the family freezer for the long winter ahead. Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law Cindy(Myron)Thurston of Vernon Center, one granddaughter Melissa Moore of Verona, step grandchildren Myron(Brandy) Thurston III, of Sherrill and Jacob(Brenna) Thurston of Syracuse, three great grandchildren; Myron Benjamin and Madelynn Grace Thurston of Sherrill and Gideon Thurston of Syracuse. Marion was predeceased by her three sisters and one brother; Sister Mary Cornelius Hogan (Geraldine), Kenneth Hogan, Thelma Vonderporten and Marretta Eggleton. Services are entrusted to Malecki Funeral Home, Vernon. There will be no calling hours per Marion's request. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 105 E. Liberty Street, Rome, N.Y., with Rev. Philip A. Hearn officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Marion's name to Hazel Carpenter Home, Oneida, N.Y. or ECF at Oneida Healthcare. Many thanks to Doctors; George III, Keith Marshall, Samad, Ratnarajah, Martyn, Reid and Jim Vanderhoof all who took loving care of Marion over the years. Thanks to the 3rd floor staff of ECF for their special care of Marion with special thanks to Laura and Stefanie.
