Obituary of Christine G. Hilts

Christine G. Hilts Blossvale- Christine G. Hilts, age 81, of Herder Road passed away peacefully late Sunday evening January 24, 2016 in the Siegenthaler Center with her loving family by her side Christine was born in Forest City, NC on February 16, 1934, a daughter of the late Charles and Lela (Hackler) Callahan. On April 16, 1954 she was united in marriage to Alfred "Bill" Hilts in Palatka, FL. The two shared a loving union of over 50 years until Alfred's death on October 20, 2009. Christine was educated in Palatka, FL and went on to receive her LPN in St. Augustine, FL. She was employed by Rome Memorial Hospital for many years. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church, in Verona Beach for over 50 years. She also enjoyed traveling and spending her winters in Florida. Christine is survived by her, one daughter Colleen (Melvin) Wolfe, of Blossvale, two sons Lester (fiancé Patricia) Hilts of Lee, Roberts (Tammy) Hilts, of Vernon, 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, three brothers Ted (Ernestine) Callahan, of Savanna GA, Dean Callahan, of Phoenix AZ, Darrell Callahan, of El Paso TX, and three sisters, Kavalla Callahan, of Palo Alto CA, Portia Nishi, of Colorado Springs CO, and Delphine Turner, of Palatka FL, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her Husband Alfred "Bill" Hilts on October 20, 2009 and a granddaughter Courtney VanSlyke Dam on June 7, 2012. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon. Burial will be on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vernon, New York.
