Obituary of Marilynn L. Fort

Marilynn Lee Fort Vernon Center- Marilynn Lee Fort passed away Saturday August 16, 2014 in St.Elizabeth's Medical Center with her loving family at her side. She was born November 11, 1937 in Addison, NY, one of six sisters of the late Kenneth and Naomi Geary. Marilynn was a student of the Rome City Schools. She worked many years as a machine operator for Oneida Molded Plastics and Hubbard Industries. She was joined in marriage on Feb 13, 1954 to Richard W. Fort Sr. and together they made a life in Vernon Center with their 6 children. Marilynn enjoyed baking (she made delicious and beautiful award winning cakes) quilting, making various crafts, collecting dolls and spending time with her family and friends. Marilynn is survived by her husband of sixty years Richard W. Fort Sr, six children and their spouses, David (Janice) Fort of Munnsville, NY, Richard Fort Jr. (Kathy) Lusby, MD, Anna (Carey) Nye of Sherrill, NY, Brian Fort of Verona, NY, Kenneth Fort of Vernon Center, NY, Mark (Cheri) Fort of Manlius, NY, fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, two sisters; Gloria Geary of Rome, NY and Jean Como of Yonkers, NY, also surviving are her many special friends that helped her in the past years. She was preceded in death by three sisters; Joyce Beach, Patricia Prichard and Barbara Garza. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday August 19, 2014 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon. Mrs. Fort's funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Skinner Cemetery, Rt. 26, Vernon Center, New York.
