Obituary of Bertha K. Grass

Bertha K. Grass Vernon-Bertha K. Grass, age 94 of Vernon passed away Sunday evening August 17, 2014 in the Siegenthaler Center of New Hartford . She was born on June 16, 1920 in Rome, New York a daughter of the late Albert and Margaret (Schneible) Eisinger and was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. On July 2, 1938 Bertha and William Durr were united in marriage and shared that union until Mr. Durr”s death on November 10, 1944 when he was killed while on duty during WW II. On October 19, 1968 Bertha again married and shared a union in marriage with Kenneth Grass until his death on March 5, 1976. Prior to her retirement Bertha was a waitress at Charlebois Hotel for over twenty-three years. She was a communicant of Holy Family Church of Vernon. Surviving are two daughters and two sons-in-law, Donna (Larry) Hennessy of Vernon and Constance (John) Haggerty also of Vernon, two sons and two daughters-in-law, William (Suzanne) Durr of Ocala, Fl. And Jack (Kathleen) Durr of Vernon, one brother Albert Eisenger of Rome, thirteen grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and one nephew, Paul Eisenger. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30 a.m. o’clock in Holy Family Church, Peterboro Street, Vernon. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vernon, New York.
