Verona-Helen E. Fear, age 89, of Mitchell Road passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 in the Oneida Healthcare Center with her loving family at her side after being stricken ill at home.
She was born on July 22, 1927 in Vernon Center, New York a daughter of the late Ernest and Agnes (Mackey) Lanz and was a graduate of Vernon High School.
Helen was employed with the Oneida Limited Silversmiths and also worked for Nelson’s Cottage of Flowers for many years. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and watching NASCAR in her spare time and truly enjoyed family gatherings with her family around her.
She was married to Norman Fear for over fifty-five years, Norm passed away on August 16, 2011.
Surviving are her two daughters and two sons-in-law, Sharon and Peter Durant Sr. of Verona and Susan and Richard Norman of Remsen, daughter-in-law, Linda Fear of Stittville, brother Bernard “Barney” and sister-in-law DeDe Lanz of Vernon Center, several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren several nieces and nephews.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, her husband Norman, two sisters, Sally Wright and June Young, step-son, Steve Fear and grandson Peter Durant Jr.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial to celebrate Helen’s life on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Peterboro Street, Vernon. The family will receive guest after the mass at the Verona Fire House Hall, 5555 Volunteer Ave., Verona, NY, 13478. Spring burial will be in Stittville Cemetery, Stittville, New York.
