Obituary of Neil H. Smith

Neil H. Smith Westmoreland-Neil H. Smith, age 64, of Deans Highway passed away suddenly Tuesday evening February 7, 2017. He was born on January 25, 1953 in Oneida, NY a son of the late Lyle H. Smith and Lorraine E. McMullen and was a graduate of Westmoreland Central School. On September 16, 1978 Neil and Jean M. Carmody were united in marriage at the Church of Annunciation in Clark Mills and the couple spent over thirty-four years together. Neil retired from SUNY Poly in 2014 where he worked for thirty years. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching N.Y. Yankee Baseball and N.Y. Giants Football with family and enjoyed hanging out with his brother. He loved to mow his lawn and took great pride in its appearance. Neil was a life member of the Stanwix Veterans & Men's Club and was involved with many other social clubs. Surviving are his two sons, Christopher Smith and Daniel Smith, one brother, Garry Smith and his wife Teresa all of Westmoreland, sister Cindy and her husband Skip Howard of Ava, sister Janet Warcup of Holland Patent and many nieces and nephews. Neil was predeceased by his wife Jean Smith on October 10, 2012 and by a brother-in-law David Warcup. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon. Neil's funeral service will be held at 6:30 p.m. immediately following calling hours at the funeral home. Spring burial will be in Westmoreland Cemetery, Westmoreland, NY.
