Obituary of Barbara E. Thomas

Barbara E. Thomas Sherrill-Barbara E. Thomas, age 98, formerly of Gordon Ave., and more recently of the Masonic Care Community passed away peacefully early Friday morning April 14, 2017 at the nursing facility. She was born on April 30, 1918 in Durhamville, New York a daughter of the late Benjamin and Minnie I. (Everhart) Vaughn. Barbara was a 1936 graduate of Verona High School and attended Rome Collegiate Center from 1936-1937 and received her Master's Degree in teaching from Syracuse University Class of 1940. Prior to her retirement Barbara was a social studies teacher at V.V. S. Central School. On June 24, 1970 Barbara and Rev. Robert J. Thomas were united in marriage in Christ Church United Methodist of Sherrill and shared that loving vow until Rev. Thomas' death on September 5, 2001. Barbara was aunt to David Michael Vaughn of Atlanta, GA and Patricia Donahue of Mechanicsville, NY. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Rev. Robert J. Thomas, 2001, brother, Frederick George Vaughn, 2000 and sister-in-law, Mary L. Vaughn, 2013. Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 19, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Verona Cemetery, Verona, NY. Online condolences may be sent to maleckifuneralhome.com
