Stanley P. Durant
Sherrill-Stanley P. Durant, age 80, of Kinsley Street passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, June 6, 2017 in the Oneida Healthcare Center.
He was born on November 12, 1936 in Verona, New York a son of the late Wesley and Caroline (Nash) Durant and was educated in the Vernon School System.
Stan entered the United States Air Force on March 29, 1955 and was honorably discharged on December 5, 1958.
Stan and Catherine "Anne" Conley were united in marriage on April 23, 1958 in St. Helena's Church of Sherrill and have shared this vow of over fifty-nine years together.
Prior to his retirement in 1992 Stan was employed as a mechanic and equipment operator with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers of Syracuse.
He loved gardening and was a talented welder who shared his skills to help his friends and neighbors at their times of need.
Stan's memberships included St. Helena's Church of Sherrill and the American Legion Post 230 of Sherrill, and he was a former member of the Moose Club of Oneida.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine "Anne" Durant of Sherrill, his four children and their spouses, Matthew (Carol) Durant of Oneida, Marty Durant of Sherrill, Melissa (Jeff) Chamberlin of Mendota, VA and Mary (Stephen) Stich of Scotia, many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, three brothers, Dale, Warren and Peter, six sisters, Joy, Rita, Carol, Donna, Florence and Jean as well as many nieces and nephews.
Stan was predeceased by his brother, Jerry and sister, Nancy.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Monday, June 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Helena's Church, Primo Ave., Sherrill, NY. Private burial will be in St. Helena's Church Cemetery, Oneida, NY. Arrangements are with the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., Sherrill, NY. Online condolences may be sent to maleckifuneralhome.com
