Obituary of Jean M. Mockler

Jean Marie (Oliver) Mockler Sherrill-Jean Marie (Oliver) Mockler, age 88, formerly of Noyes Manor passed away peacefully, Saturday, September 16, 2017 at her daughters home in Verona surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 20, 1928 in Syracuse, New York a daughter of the late Charles J. and Helen (Cook) Oliver and was a graduate of the Mattydale and Syracuse Schools. Jean had an extensive career as a bookkeeper having worked for General Electric of Syracuse, Griffis Air Force Base in Rome, Super Foods IGA Distributor, and Gateway Equipment, prior to her retirement in 1994. Jean enjoyed knitting, keeping genealogy records for her family; she was a huge Syracuse sports fan but most enjoyed her family and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up. Surviving are her three daughters, Kathleen (Mark) Salm of Sherrill, Colleen Herzog of Verona and Christine (John)Tierney of Baldwinsville, her beloved grandchildren, Jeremy(Jennifer) Herzog, Travis (Amber) Herzog, Kelly Mockler, Daryl (Amanda) Salm, Heath Salm, Ryan (Colin) Taisey, Justin Tierney and his fiancée Billie Linder and Eion Tierney, 11 great-grandchildren, three sisters, Patricia MacDonald of Fl., Mary Eileen Jasmin of Chittenango, Sandra Oliver of Fl., three brothers, Charles Oliver Jr. of Bridgeport, James Oliver of Arizona and Thomas Oliver of Fabius, one daughter-in-law, Brenda Mockler, and friend Tim Murphy of Vernon and Jeans canine grand-doger, Ellie, and many nieces and nephews., and her special family nurse LuAnn Jones. Jean was predeceased by her parents, three sisters Shirley, Nancy and Carol Oliver, and two brothers Gerald and Richard Oliver, her son Thomas Mockler and son-in-law Russell Herzog. In keeping with Jean's wishes there will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Helena's Church, 210 Primo Ave., Sherrill, NY. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery, Court St. Syracuse, NY. Online condolences may be sent to maleckifuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of CNY.
