Obituary of Susan J. Heffner

VERNON CENTER – Susan J. Heffner, 69, of Vernon Center, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at her home. She was born on March 23, 1948, in Utica, NY. She was the daughter of John and Gloria Konowich, formerly of Greenfield Road in Rome, NY. She married Warren Heffner on April 17, 1988, which was a union that lasted 30 years. She had retired from Metropolitan Life in Oriskany, NY. She graduated from Canastota High School in 1966. She loved sewing, and liked to be outdoors gardening. In addition to her parents, Susan was predeceased by a brother, John Paul (Marie) Konowich of Canastota. She is survived by her brother, John Peter (Georgene) Konowich of Vernon Center; her three sisters, Lynn (Donald) Owen of Washington State, Laurie (Gary) Snyder of Globe, Arizona, and Sharon (Hal) Stevens of Earlville, NY; her step daughter, Tonette (Heffner) Spear; her step granddaughter, Peyton Maine of Vernon, NY; her step grandson, Lee (Jesse) Spear; one step great grandson, Zayden Spear of Sylvan Beach, NY; and many nieces and nephews. Per Susan's request, there will be no hours of public visitation. Arrangements are being handled by the Malecki Funeral Home Inc. in Vernon, NY.
