Obituary of Richard L. Miller

Vernon-Richard L. 'Dick' Miller, age 85, formerly of Vernon and most recently of the Preswick Glen Community of New Hartford passed away peacefully Friday afternoon, July 6, 2018 in the Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center with his family and special friends at his side.

He was born on September 22, 1932 in Palmer, MA, son of the late Rufus F. and Ivis (Campbell) Miller. Richard was a graduate of the Palmer School System and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in civil engineering from the University of Massachusetts.

On March 1, 1958 Richard and Anita L. Lampman were united in marriage at the Vernon United Methodist Church and shared that loving union of over fifty-eight years together until Anita's passing on December 17, 2016.

Prior to his retirement Richard was an engineer with the former Bendix and Lucas Aerospace Corporations. After retirement Richard went to wall paper school to become a professional wall paper hanger. In his spare time he enjoyed wood working, gardening and spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are his three children and their spouses, David (Kris) Miller of Sanford, NC, Eric (Alice) Miller of Verona and Carrie (Scott) Cook of Clinton, two grandchildren, Taylor and Dustin Miller of Verona, one sister Beverly Jackson of MA as well as several nieces and nephews.

Richard was predeceased by his wife, Anita and brother Wayne Miller.

In keeping with Richards wishes there will be a private graveside service at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vernon, NY. The family invites friends to a celebration of Richard's life on Saturday July 14, 2018 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at  Preswick Glen, 55 Preswick Glen Drive off Clinton Road (Rte 12B) New Hartford, NY, 13413.
