Douglas (Dick) Shue Sherrill-Douglas (Dick). Shue, age 92, of E. Hamilton Ave. passed away peacefully Wednesday evening November 19, 2014 at his home. He was born on September 17, 1922 in Lyons Falls, New York a son of the late John and Mabel (Fegley) Shue and attended Lyons Falls Schools. On December 31, 1941 Doug enlisted with the United States Marine Corp where he fought in the South Pacific and was involved with the disarming of the Japanese. Doug was honorably discharged as staff sergeant on December 29, 1945 as a proud Marine. (Semper-Fi). On November 4, 1946 Doug and Barbara Riley were united in marriage in Port Leyden, New York and the couple has shared a loving union of over sixty-seven years together until Barbara's death on November 12, 2013. Prior to his retirement Doug was employed with Oneida Limited Silversmith's in the factory and later at the CAC and Lewis Point facilities. He was very active with Sherrill Little League Baseball and helped rebuild the Little League Field. In his spare time he enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, building bird houses in his garage and roller blading into his eighties. He was a member of St. Helena's Church, Sherrill American Legion Post 230, the Knot Knot Hole Club, a past member of the V.V.S. Sports Booster Club where he was very active with his family and a member of The Oneida Limited CAC and Retirement Clubs. He enjoyed spending his winters in Florida, traveling, camping with family and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Surviving are eight children and their spouses and their families, Alex (Cindy) Shue and their family Heidi Wright, Heather Chagnon, Andree Hickok, Matt Curtis and Melanie Curtis, Patrick (Brittanie) Shue and their family, Kelly Barber and Emily Chapman, Douglas (Linda) Shue and their family, Adam Shue, John Mulroy and Jan Mulroy-Boucher, Sharon (Bruce) Herendeen, Peter (Kathy) Shue and their family Shannon, Jason and Colan Shue, the triplets and their families, Mark (Tisia) Shue and Ashley McCabe, Sydney Cossitt-Shue, Matthew (Sally) Shue and their family Ryan, Erin and Kara Shue, and Michael (Dottie) Shue and their family, Randi Hull, Jeff Hull and Mackenzie Usborne, two sister-in-law, Sally Riley, Mercine Herman and several nieces and nephews. Doug was predeceased by his parents, five brothers and his wife. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, November 24, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherrill Rd., Sherrill. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Helena's Church Primo Ave, Sherrill. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Helena's Cemetery, Oneida, New York. Donations in memory of Doug may be sent to St. Helena's Church, 210 Primo Ave., Sherrill, for Thanksgiving and Christmas offerings to families of need in the community.
