Verona-Richard E. Carpenter, age 65, of Brett Street passed away Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare after a two year battle with cancer. He was born on April 4, 1954 in Plattsburg, New York, son of the late James H. and Barbara (Watts) Carpenter. He was a graduate of V.V.S. Central School. On December 4, 1982, Richard and Karen Peters were united in marriage in Canastota, New York. Prior to his retirement in 2018, Richard was employed as the shipping and receiving clerk at Thermold Corporation in Canastota. His hobbies were collecting baseball cards and coaching softball. He was a fan of the New York Mets and the San Francisco 49ers. Surviving are his wife Karen Carpenter, four daughters, Jessica Yerdon, Jennifer Fredendall, Jamie Carpenter, and Kimberly Reeder: three sons, Gregory Cumber, Jeremy Cumber, and Chad Cumber. Two sisters, Prudence York and Ella Seamon. Along with eighteen grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday April 26, 2019 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon, NY.
