Hazel Buss Denninger
Vernon-Hazel Buss Denninger, age 92, formerly of Vernon and Lakeland Florida and more recently of Liverpool passed away Thursday morning December 4, 2014 in St. Joseph's Hospital of Syracuse.
She was born on December 26, 1921 in Collmar, New York a daughter of the late Fred M. and Mary (Lindsman) Craver and was a graduate of Central Square High School.
In 1942 Hazel and Robert W. Buss were united in marriage and shared that union until Mr. Buss' death on April 14, 1985.Hazel later married Gerhard E. Denninger on September 25, 1993.
Hazel was employed with the Vernon Post Office for seventeen years and later went on to work and retired from the National Bank of Vernon.
She was a sixty year past member of the Iuka Rebekah Lodge 555 of Vernon. She was a former member of the Vernon United Methodist Church and the Crystal Lake United Methodist Church.
Surviving is her husband Gerhard (Gary) E. Denninger of Liverpool, one sister Dorothy Sturdevant of Canastota, nephew Robert Sturdevant Jr. of Canastota and his family of Robert Sturdevant III, Heather Sturdevant and Robin Harvell, two nieces Linda Sturdevant of Canastota, Harriet Manning of Syracuse, nephews, James Craver of Liverpool, Michael Craver of Baldwinsville, and Leon craver of Las Vegas, as well as many grand nieces and grandnephews and grand-grand nieces and grand-grand nephews.
Hazel was predeceased by a nephew Walter Sturdevant.
Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday from2:30 to 6:00 p.m.at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon. Hazel's funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. immediately following calling hours at the funeral home with Rev. Frank Loan officiating. Graveside services will be held on Monday at the family's convenience in Maple Grove Cemetery, Rt. 5, Vernon, New York. Arrangements are with the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., Vernon, New York.
