Obituary of Patricia W. Walpole

Sherrill-Patricia W. Walpole, age 78, a lifelong area resident passed away unexpectedly early Friday morning February 7, 2020 in the Oneida Healthcare Center. She was born on July 29, 1941 in Oneida, NY a daughter of the late Francis J. and Sophia (Zapisek) White and was a 1958 graduate of Vernon Verona Sherrill Schools and received her master degree from SUNY Oswego in 1962. On December 29, 1962 Pat and Robert L. Walpole were united in marriage in Vernon's St. Catherine's Catholic Church and shared that union of over thirty -one years together until Robert's death on February 27, 1994. Prior to her retirement Pat was employed as a reading teacher with the Stockbridge Valley School system. She was a communicant of St. Helena's Church of Sherrill, where she served as a lecture and it's alter care society where Pat would arrange alter flowers. Other memberships included the New York State Teacher's Association, Red Hat Society and Sherrill's Garden Club. In her spare time Pat enjoyed knitting, reading, cross word puzzles, gardening, cooking, entertaining her family with her large meals and spending time with her family especially her beloved grandchildren that gave her much love and joy. Surviving are her son and daughter in-law, Joseph and Jennifer Walpole of Oneida Castle, her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Alan Smith of Louisville, KY, her beloved grandchildren, Sophia, Gregory, Ryan and Justin, her feline friend Lilly and many close friends. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, February 13, 2020 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherrill Rd., Sherrill, NY. A Celebration of Pat's life will be held at a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday February 14, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Helena's Church, Primo Ave., Sherrill, NY.
