Obituary of David H. Finn

David H. Finn, age 71, of Westmoreland passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home with his loving family at his side. David was born on November 23, 1948 in Rome, New York. In October 1974, he was united in marriage with his soulmate, Donna L. Eychner at the Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, a loving union of forty-five years. He was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. From 1964-1970, he served with the United States Air Force Reserves. In his early working career, David was employed with Revere Copper and Brass before going to work for the New York State Power Authority. David was the systems control operator, retiring in 2011. In 2016, his passion and dedication led him to return. Being a very devout member of the Roman Catholic faith, he attended Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and was a loyal participant in the St. Joseph’s Society. He also served as a past president of the Verona Senior Citizens. Dave was an avid music, car, electronic, and dog lover. Surviving are his wife and son Marcus Finn (Sean Kittle). He also leaves behind a brother Dale (Robin) Finn, a sister, Pam (Paul) Senecal of Rome, his wife’s sisters, Jackie Morat of Rochester and Tutz Desgrosiellier of Rome, and many nieces and nephews. Close friends Carol Sexton and family, his best friends Don and Charlene Hartman and William and Marlene Knudsen are also left behind. Predeceasing him are his parents, his mother and father-in-law Lyle and Luella Eychner, brothers Lyle Eychner, Jr., Donald (Annette) Eychner and Clifford (Maureen) Eychner, sisters Shirley (Harlow) Rasha and Marilyn (Bernard) Secor. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday July 24, 2020 from 4:00 to 7: 00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon, NY, COVID 19 restriction require a mask and social distancing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 5652 E. Main Street, Verona, NY, where mask and social distancing are required. Burial will follow in Carmichael Hill Cemetery, Westernville, NY.
