Obituary of James A. Zabele

Verona-James A. Zabele, age 86, of Tilden Hill Road passed away early Friday morning December 25, 2020 in the Katherine Luther Home in Clinton. He was born on February 19, 1934 in Oneida, New York a son of the late George G. and Florence (Rutan) Zabele and attended the Sherrill Schools. On June 11, 1955 Jim and Beverly Ostrander were united in marriage in the First United Methodist Church of Oneida shared this loving vow of over sixty-five years together. Jim was born a farmer, a dairy farmer, crop farmer and sold farm equipment for several businesses and his delight was in raising and owning Haflinger horses. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Zabele of Verona, two sons, James (Mary) Zabele of FL and Jon (Carole) Zabele of SC and one daughter Denise and (Ken) Tyler of Morrisville, His sister Chris Moshier brother Ted Zabele. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by parents, brother, George (Pete) Zabele, sister-in-law Mary Ellen, brother, Roy, brother-in-law James Moshier, sister-in-law Judy Zabele, brother-in-law Don and sister-in-law Alice Ostrander, father-in-law and mother-in-law Richmond and Peg Ostrander and a special grandson Riley Zabele and several nieces and nephews. Due to COVID-19 restrictions a graveside service in Lenox Rural Cemetery, Lenox, NY will be held in the spring of 2021. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
