Obituary of Janice M. Durant

Janice M. Durant Verona-Janice M. Durant, age 73, of Tilden Hill Road passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning March 19, 2015 in the Oneida Healthcare Center shortly after her admission. She was born on August 8, 1941 in Oneida New York a daughter of the late Richard and Margaret (Metzer) Devan and was a graduate of Oneida High Class of 1959. On June 18, 1960 Janice and Dale W. Durant were united in marriage in St. Patrick's Church of Oneida and the couple has shared a loving union of nearly fifty-five years together. Janice started her working career with her husband on the Durant Dairy Farm in Verona and for over ten years operated Jan's Dairy Store in Vernon. She later used her time as a very talented cake maker supplying her customers with many beautiful wedding and birthday cake. She later retired from Sav-On Gas. She most enjoyed her time spent with her family and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are her husband, Dale W. Durant, her five children and their spouses, Dale R. (Becca) Durant of Munnsville, Jeff P. Durant of Verona, Wenda (Anthony) Bartolotti of Rome, Dan (Julie) Durant of Verona and Richard (Kelly) Durant of Verona, ten grandchildren, Ashley, Dale Howard, Nathan, Seth, Joseph, Lauren, Emily, Brooke, Erica and Rakel, six great-grandchildren, one sister and brother-in-law, Sharon (David) Albanese, three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Charles "Buzz" Devan, Dave (Karen) Devan and Steven (Teri) Devan, many nieces and nephews and other relatives. Janice was predeceased by her granddaughter Erin Durant in 2005. Janice's children would like to thank their father for taking such great care of their mother for the past ten years after her stroke. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday March 23, 2015 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon. Janice's funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Spring burial will be in St. Helena's Cemetery, Oneida, New York.
