Obituary of Donald D. Ruff

Rome-Donald Ruff, 84, of Rome went to be with his Lord on March 16, 2021 after a long battle with Parkinson's. He was born the son of Walter and Dorothy Ruff and grew in Andes, New York on his family's farm. After high school Donald had his own farm, then became a barber and then was employed by Amphenol in Sidney, New York where he retired with twenty-five years of service. On July 12, 1981 Donald married Dara DeSant in Delhi, New York. He was a lover of the outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing. Donald was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Canastota. Surviving are his wife Dara, his sons and daughters-in-law, Dave (Ollie), Dennis (Connie), Dale (Tracy), Mike (Michelle), Scott (Rebecca), Jason (Lisa) and Rick and cherished grandson Logan. Dara would like to thank her special friend Julie who helped with Don's care, Palliative Care, and the staff at Rome Memorial Hospital ICU unit for their exceptional and compassionate care of Don. Family and friends are invited to a call on Wednesday March 24, 2021 for 10:00 to 11:00 at Grace Lutheran Church, 3965 Carter Road, Canastota, NY, 13032. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. immediately following the calling hour at the Church. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vernon, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Grace Lutheran Church or Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Rd, New Hartford, NY, 13413. Those unable to attend can view the church's Facebook page for Don's live streaming services. Arrangements are with the Malecki Funeral Home of Vernon.
