Obituary of Alberta L. Collins

Alberta L. Collins Stockbridge -Alberta L. Collins, age 93, of Sullivan Road passed away early Thursday morning March 26, 2015 in the Oneida Healthcare Center with her loving family at her side. She was born on October 10, 1921 in Oneida, New York the daughter of the late Albert and Aurelia (Wells) Hammond and attended the Merrillsville Schools. On June 14, 1941 Alberta and Lyle R. Collins were united in marriage in Blossvale, New York and the couple shared that loving union for over sixty years until Lyle's death on August 29, 2001. Alberta was a dairy farmer and mother to her fourteen children who kept her very busy but in her spare time she enjoyed rides in the car, gardening and fishing. Surviving are eleven children and their spouses, and their families, Dora (Carl) Smith of Live Oak, FL. Ronald (Donicia) Collins of Hinesville, GA, Ralph (Robin) Collins of Sherrill, Olin Collins of Cortland, Benjamin (Nancy) Collins of Vernon Center, Morris (Tammy) Collins of New Smyrna Beach, FL., Philip (Gail) Collins of Vernon Center, Alfred (Sally) Collins of Syracuse, Calvin (Joann) Collins of Earlville, Linda (Ed) Noble of Munnsville and Kevin (Jan) Collins of Munnsville, one daughter in law Deirin Collins, one brother Joseph (Marylee) Hammond of NC, sister Matie Rowe, Canastota NY several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a special friend and best caregiver Patty Donahue. Alberta was predeceased by her husband, three children, Jean, Frederick,and William, three brothers Fred, William, and Raymond, and five sisters Alice,AnnaMae, Christina, Barbara, and Eunice. Family and friends are invited to call on Saturday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon. Alberta's funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. immediately following calling hours with daughter-in-law, Lay Preacher Gail J. Collins officiating. Spring burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vernon, New York. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Munnsville Fire Department or American Cancer Society in memory of Alberta Collins.
