Obituary of Dorothy A. Sheldon

Vernon Center-Dorothy A. "Dotty" Sheldon, age 77, of Vernon Center passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the Siegenthaler Center after an extended illness. She was born on March 27, 1944 in Utica, New York a daughter of the late Charles and Dora (Alexander) Quinn and was a graduate of the Westmoreland School System. On October 25, 1968 Dorothy and Andrew T. Sheldon were united in marriage in Vernon, New York and shared over thirty seven years together until Andy's death on February 21, 2006. In her early working career Dottie was employed with Hood-Dairylea Co.for several years as a machine operator and did clerical duties. She later worked with the cleaning department at Vernon Downs Raceway. She enjoyed doing crafts, oil painting, fishing, being outdoors, horses, and had a deep Christian Faith. Surviving are her children and their spouses, Shelly (Mark) Schwenk of Vernon Center, Jodi (Christopher) Canton of Fl., Andrew Jr. (Michelle) Sheldon of Oneida, Kevin Quinn of Vernon, Randy (Kathy) Sheldon of Oneida, one sister Mary Achen of Clinton, one brother Theodore (Catherine) Achen of Whitesboro thirteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Dottie was predeceased by her parents, husband Andrew, brothers, Charles Quinn and Fredrick Achen and sister Roberta Achen. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, September 20, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to1:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home 23 Front Street, Vernon, NY. Funeral service will follow calling hours at the funeral home. Burial will then be Vernon Center Cemetery, Vernon Center, NY.
