Obituary of Howard T. Meyers

Vernon Center-Howard T. Meyers, age 85, a longtime Rome resident and more recently a resident of Vernon Center passed away early Thursday morning, March 24, 2022 in the Oneida Healthcare. He was born on September 30, 1936 in Rome, New York a son of the late Howard T. and Genevieve (Beasock) Meyers and was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. On April 28, 1956 Howard and Janice E. Van Dresar were united in marriage in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church and shared that loving vow over forty-eight years together until Janice's death on November 28, 2004. Prior to his retirement in 1994 Howard was employed with Griffiss Air Base in the communications department with over thirty-nine years of service. Howard was a car fanatic and loved cars, especially fast cars and enjoyed his time spent with the Tappet Twirlers Automobile Club of Rome. He also gave his time freely to snowmobile rescue. Surviving are his four children, Denise LaSalle of Rock Hill, SC, Darla Kiefer of Rock Hill, SC, James (Crystal) Meyers of Vernon Center, Hope (Greg) Brooks of W. Melbourne, Fl., many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren , with special mention of three granddaughters; like daughters, Josie, Katrina and Heather and many other loved relatives and friends. Howard was predeceased by three daughters, Josette Meyers, Phyllis Meyers and Nadine (Meyers) Westcott his wife Janice Meyers. In keeping with Howard's wishes there will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday April 2, 2022 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the family home at 4145 Peterboro Road, Vernon Center, NY.
