Obituary of Warren G. Chandler

Vernon Center-Warren "George" Chandler Jr., age 76, of Bleeker Road passed away Saturday evening July 23, 2022 in the Oneida Healthcare emergency room after being stricken ill at home.

He was born on September 17, 1945 at his grandfather's and grandmother's home on Bleeker Road in Vernon Center a son of the late Warren G. and Harriet (Deal) Chandler. George moved back to the farm to live with his grandparents in his mid-teens and remained at the farm for the rest of the life.

He was a 1963 graduate of Vernon Verona Sherrill School and a 1972 graduate of Utica College where he earned his master's degree at the college's Upper Division in world history and mathematics.

George's life was always based on farming and teaching. He taught at Waterville Central High School for many years until his retirement in 2004.

Surviving are his brothers, Edward (Renee) of Verona, Phil (Laurie) of Clark Mills, Mark (Maureen) of Virginia and Jud (Brenda) of Vernon Center, one sister Judy (David Collett) Arnold, niece Danilelle (Brian) Maggio, nephew Jeremy (Amanda) Arnold, great nephew Shaun as well as many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

George was predeceased by his three siblings Larry, Martha and Mary Ellen.

In keeping with George's wishes there will be a private gathering at the Vernon Center Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are with the Malecki Funeral Home of Vernon. Online condolences may be sent to maleckifuneralhome.com
