Obituary of Helen Marie Rycraft

Vernon- H. Marie Rycraft, age 75, a longtime Vernon resident passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022 in St. Luke's Home where she more recently resided. She was born on April 7, 1947 in Utica, NY, a daughter of the late James C. Rycraft Sr. and the late Helen Doane and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. For many years she worked as a groom at Vernon Downs with the Jay sears Stable and later in her career was a home health aide with the Oneida County Department of Health. In her spare time she enjoyed writing poetry and short stories and making dolls. Her favorite animals were otters and swans. Marie was a faith filled member of Holy Family Church of Vernon and served as a lector at the Saturday vigil masses. She is survived by many friends. A mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, October 24, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 4352 Peterboro Street, Vernon, NY. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vernon, NY.
