Obituary of Daniel W. Durant

Verona-Daniel W. "Dan" Durant age 59, of Verona passed away early Tuesday morning, June 6, 2023 at the family farm after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on May 24, 1964 in Oneida New York a son of Dale and Janice (Devan) Durant and was a graduate of the Vernon Verona Sherrill Schools. Dan had several jobs in his life but his most recent and most enjoyable job was Durant Driveway Sealing. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and time with his friends at the American Legion Post 404 in Vernon and the VFW Post 6811 in Verona. Dan was married to Julie (DeBarr) Durant and from that marriage the couple had a beautiful family to carry on his legacy, including four children and their husbands, Lauren Von Matt of Oneida, Emily and Tom Rath of Lake Placid, and Brooke and Sean Bennett of Oneida, seven grandchildren, Ryleigh, Finn, Callaway, Sullivan, Hudson, Lakelyn and River. Also surviving are his father, Dale Durant of Verona, sister Wenda and Anthony Bartolotti of Rome, brothers Dale Jr. and Kelly Durant of Verona, Jeff Durant of Verona, Richard and Kelly Durant of Verona and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Dan was predeceased by his daughter, Erin Durant in 2005 and his mother Janice Durant in 2015. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front Street, Vernon, NY. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at St. Helena's Cemetery, 1776 Middle Road, Oneida, NY. The family request in lieu of flowers donations be sent to the American Legion Post 404 of Vernon or the VFW Post 6811 of Verona. Online condolences may be sent to maleckifuneralhome.com.
