Obituary of Thomas R. Croft

Verona-Thomas R. Croft, age 85, a longtime Rock Road resident passed away Friday morning August 4, 2023 at Mercy Hospital of Buffalo after residing at Grand Island where he more recently resided to be closer to his grandchildren. He was born on August 24, 1937 in Peekskill, New York a son of the late Horace M. and Elizabeth (Ryder) Croft and was a graduate of White Plains Schools and Morrisville College of Agriculture. On February 20, 1960 Tom and Yvonne "Bonnie" Walter and were united in marriage in Fenton, NY and shared that loving vow of over sixty-two years together until Bonnie's death on July 14, 2022. Prior to his retirement in 2009 Tom was the owner and operator of Croft's Treeland of Vernon where Tom grew and sold all varieties of trees and was an expert landscaper. Tom along with his wife Bonnie were active members for many years at Christ Methodist Church of Sherrill. Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, life on the Rock Road Farm with his mules and spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. Surviving is one son Donald Croft of Port Charlotte, FL, one daughter Maryanne DeNova of Grand Island, eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, two brother, Richard Croft of Sherrill and David Croft of Atlanta, GA and several nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his parents, his wife Bonnie and a daughter Sandra Miller and a brother Robert Croft. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 464 Sherrill Rd., Sherrill, NY. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 417 Park Street, Sherrill, NY with Rev. Glen Hardman.
