Verona-Dale W. Durant, age 83 of Tilden Hill Road passed away peacefully Monday morning, January 22, 2024 in the comfort of his home surrounded by the peace and love of his family.
  He was born in Verona on the family farm February 11, 1940, a son of the late Wesley and Caroline (Nash) Durant and was a graduate of the Vernon Verona Sherrill Schools.
  On June 18, 1960, Dale and Janice Devan were united in marriage in St. Patrick’s Church in Oneida and shared that vow of over fifty-four years together until Janice’s death on March 19, 2015.
  Dale grew up on the farm and never left.  He retired only when his health could no longer continue to do the work he loved.
  In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, hunting, snowmobiling and riding his tractors. His favorite times were spent at Sunday dinners and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
  Surviving are his children, Dale (Becca), Wenda (Anthony) Bartolotti, Jeffrey, Richard (Kelly), daughter-in-law Julie; grandchildren Ashley (Paul), Dale Howard (Hayley), Nathan (Brianna), Seth, Joey, Lauren, Emily (Tom), Brooke (Sean), Erica and Rakel; great-grandchildren Connor, MacKenzi, Ryleigh, Finn, Callaway, Sullivan, Hudson, Lakelyn and River; siblings Carol (Dave) Way, Rita Seamon, Jean (John) Chmielewski, Warren (Ann) Durant and Donna (Rick) Zimmerman; his brothers-in-law Ralph Richards, David Devan, Charles Devan, Steven Devan; sisters-in-law Fran Durant, Sharon Durant, and Sharon Albanese; life-long friends Terry Hartman and Butch Ayers and many, many nieces and nephews.
   Dale was predeceased by his wife Janice, son Daniel and granddaughter Erin; siblings Jerome, Stanley, Peter, Joy Twiss, Florence Richards and Nancy Eastman and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Margaret and Richard Devan.   
  The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Spirit of Hope Community, 4352 Peterboro Street, Vernon, NY. A mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. Spring burial will be in St. Helena’s Cemetery, Middle Road, Oneida, NY. A special thank you to the staff  of Hospice for their compassionate care.
