Obituary of Charles D. Reiter

Sherrill - Charles "Butch" Reiter, age 65, of Sherrill passed away Friday afternoon, May 10th, 2024 in Upstate Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on September 16th, 1958 in Oneida, New York. The son of William J. and Mary D. (Costanza) Reiter. Butch was a graduate of Oneida High School. Growing up he cherished time at Maurice & Frances Evans farm in Rossi, NY (Gramma Frances & Grandpa Maurice). Butch was a dedicated employee of over 35 years at Stickley Furniture as a warehouse manager when he became ill. He loved dirt track racing at Utica-Rome Speedway and also raced at Fulton Speedway. He raced under #44 in the Pure Stock Division and then later in the Sportsman Division in the top of his divisions. After retiring from racing, he was part of the pit crew for the Paul Kinney Racing Team. He enjoyed camping in the Adirondacks and hosting his yearly Sherrill Fireworks party for family & friends. Butch was also a huge fan of The Flashcubes & The Ramones. Surviving is his partner, Laura Caouette of Sherrill, one daughter Valerie Reiter of Oneida, one son Brett Reiter (Beth Pettit) of Knoxboro, his mother Mary D. Reiter of Oneida, his beloved grandchildren, Riley Wallis, Audrey Kimball, Jonathan Kimball, Kora Reiter and Julian Rodriguez, siblings, Mary (Edward) Gittings of Vernon, Bobbie (Russ) Tufte of Oneida Castle, Patty (Kevin) McClimon of Iowa and Debbie (Brian) Reese of Sherrill along with several nieces, nephews and great nieces & grand nephews. He was predeceased by his father, William J. Reiter, brother William J. Reiter Jr. and granddaughter Kyleigh Reiter. Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, May 13, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.at the Malecki Funeral Home, 464 Sherrill Rd., Sherrill, NY. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Spirit of Hope St. Patrick's Church, 347 Main Street, Oneida, NY, with Pastor Rev. Christopher Ballard celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fair View Ave., Oneida, NY.
